great nrtistis task . of Gutzon
Borgtuin, famous sculptor, will b to
convert a spire-like peak in the Black
Hills of South Dakota into colossal
statues of Washington and Lincoln.
Borglum, whose work on tbe Stone
Mountain Confederate Memorial in
Georgia came to an abrupt ending
after a stormy dispute with the as
sociation in charge of it, will start
work on the western memorial this
summer.
'Cat and Canary'

ment. The statues will be carved on Har
ney's Peak, about 40 miles from

lion and a half dollars and will be

sale of souvenir coins.
