A favorable report was ordered today

The measure is designed to carry
out the principal plank in the pro
gram of the president's agricultural
commission. Jt is also pending in the
house.
Adoption of the report was preced
ed by a lengthy executive session in
which the bill was vigorously attacked
by opposing committee members.
The cooperative marketing board
proposed under the bill would be com
posed of five instead of three mem
bers to be appointed by the president,
each to represent a principal agricul
tural industry, livestock, grain, dairy
and poultry, cotton and tobacco, fruits
and vegetables. The salaries of the
couimisi ioners would be ? 10.000 a
year instead of $1,000 originally pro

ly cast down showers, a throng of rel
atives and friends stood about the
shaft of the City Coal company mine
today awaiting work of the efforts of
rescue crews to bring forth the bod
ies of thirty-four miners still held be
neath the debris of an explosion that
wrecked n part of the mine interior
yesterday. Four bodies were recover
ed today making a total of 22 recov
ered with 2!) still missing. ,
Oespite the insistence of officials
that there is no hope for those still
under ground, relatives clung to their
belief that a few men riuy have bar
ricaded themselves from the dreaded
afler dump and would yet be brought
out alive.
Sullivan began plans for relief of
the stiifken families. A mass meet
ing was held this afternoon attended
by representatives of various civic
and fraternal organizations to coordi
nate the relief work.
