The Sweet-Drain Auto company,
local agents for the Btudcbakor line
of motor cars, claims to be the oldest
automobile agency in town on the
grounds that the first motor earn sold
iu this city were sold from the pres
ent plant. Hack in ItHll) Fred Mul
leu conducted a Kales agency there,
and in una Mr. Kweet and Mr. Drain
took over the interests.
From the humble start of just one
man, .Mr. .Mullen, the business of the
firm has steadily increased, until to
day eight l l, mechanics and sales
men, are kept busy the year around.
"The people of Kugene have faith

realize the value in the standard car.

Automobile show this week, and in
addition to the en fire sales force of
the H. I Cioodpnsture company, lo
cal representatives, 1M Knox, of the
Howard Auto company of Portland,
will be on band to tell all the HuU-k
vantage points. Mr. Knox is a fuc-
bo hero for the show, is one of the
outstanding curs of the year, and is
be.ng strongly featured by the local
agency.
New Standard Set

wheel, whirring around at several
thousand revolutions a minute eats
out the "high fpots" of the walls of
the cylinders. This it does with n
rotary movement, nud the solid tini

Machine la Massive
Just back of the cylinder machine
is another, not quite so big, but
equally substantial. This is used for
grinding pistons and like work. An
other step away the long work bench,
with its sets of vices, and with n
multitude of tools nri-angcd above und
below it, is placed handily. Hack of
this is the machine for working on
crank shafts.
The crank shaft department is real
ty one of the most important in the
shop, believes Mr. l'einbrooke, and
crank shafts, ho says are really of
ten the root of much motor evil. Peo
ple often spend n great deal of time
and money on cylinders, only to have
nil the work ruined because the crunk
shaft is nt f m. nit. The 'apparatus in
the shop ia, iu spite i.f its mnssive
look, one of great delicacy And pre
cision. It "shaves" the shafts per
fectly round, nud it is accurate lo
a very minuto fraction of an inch.
