University of Detroit auuouuced to-
day that Charles K. Dorais, football
coach at Uouzaga university, .Spo
kane, Wash., has signed a three-year
contract to become director of ath
letics at the University of Detroit.
Dorais, who will become the first
year round athletic head ever engaged
by the local university, was signed on
the recommendation of Knute Kockne,
Notre Dame coach, and team-mate of
Dorais on the Notre Dame football
squad of nearly a score of years ago.

lirtnation of his employment as di
rector of athletics at the University
of Detroit was given here today by
Charles E. Dorais, football coach at
Gonzga university.
Coach Dorais' contract here called
for a salary of $5,000 a year. He had
been offered a contract at an $8,000
salary, of which it had been proposed
$3,000 should be underwritten by a
committee of business men to be paid
in case the proceeds from athletics at
the university were not great enough
to pay the full amount.
