Suit to recover damages to the
amount of $3568 were filed today in
circuit court by Hazel Wcller against
tho Mountain States Power com
pany. The plaintiff alleges that a
leaky gas meter installed at the home
at 1300 Oak street caused her to be
overcome by the gas fumes the eve
ning of July 12, 1023, and that she
has not yet fully recovered from the
effects. The plaintiff alleges that she
was ill at the hospital for two days
and that several months later Bhe
still suffered due to the fault of the
company. Williams and Bean are at
torneys for the plointiff.

Mid-yenr promotions of Eugene
school pupils will take place February

school board clerk. This date marks
the end of the present semester, and
the second semester will start Febru

A total of 3277 students arc now
enrolled in local schools, according to
the report of Joseph T. tilenn, su
perintendent of schools. Tbis makes
