necklace of Madame Thiers, widow of
a former president of the republic,
has been to New York. where It is now
in llin hands of Its owner, the firm of
Cartiers. The necklace, which was

year is said to be valued al $1,51)0,000.
The Thiers pearls in Ihe form of
a necklace, composed of three strings,
fetched 11,280.000 francs nt the auc
tion in Paris last year. The necklace
consists of 153 pearls, weighing 2,137
