Dam ages of $.100 were awarded to Mrs. Kdna Cummins by a circuit court jury here yesterday jn Mrs. Cummins' $u0, 000 libel action against eleven mem bers of the Newberg Ku Klux Klan. Mrs. Cummins instituted action on grounds that her character had been injured by alleged stutement concern ing her made by the defendant mem bers of the Newberg klun. The action originally made the national klan or ganization defendant, Lut the court granted a non-suit as to the national body. On the ground thnt the klan as a while is responsible for acts of its members, attorneys for Mrs. Cum in ins announced they would appeal the decision of tbe lower court, eliminat ing the national organization as a. de fendant, to the state supreme court. Otto P. DeLuce, of Indianapolis, Ind., supreme presr. ident of the !. O. K. will be the guest of the Eugene lodge February 'l't on a tour of the coast.
