B. Hamlin. During the year of 1923 the total receipts for the local postoffice wore $7054.50, while nt the end of the third quarter of 1924 receipts totaled $5720, with the heavy Christmas business Btill to come. As a second class office all clerks and assistants will be required to pass civil service examinations and will re ceive better pay. A larger corps of clerks, carriers and assistants will also be required, Postmaster Hamlin stated. The yearly receipts of the Spring field office for the past five years as given in the postmaster's annual re ports are: 1919, $5208.20; 1920, $5204.10; 1921, $3008.00; 3922, $0308.14; 1923, $7054.00.
