W THE GUARD'S "INI HO WAY"
Prominent Houston Man Says
"Money Could Not Buy the
Good it Has Done Me."
''Money could not buy tb good Tan
lac baa done me, and I gladly recom
mend tt for what it has done in my cue."
said Hon. Archie R. Anderson, of Hous
ton, ex -she riff of Harria county, Terat,
recently.
Mr. Anderson ! unquestionably, not
only one of the beat known, but one of the
moet popular men that ever held public J
office in "The Lone Star" atate. After
erring ma deputy sheriff of Harria
county for 12 years, Mr. Anderson waa
elected chief of police of the city of
Houston. He had occupied this office
only a short time when the sheriff of
Harris county died. Mr. Anderson's
friends persuaded htm to make the race
for the unexpired term of sheriff to which
be was easily eltcted. He waa honored
with re election seven different times
and served the people in thia Important
office for 15 consecutive years. Four
years ago Mr. Anderson declined re-election
and retired to private life. He cast
his lot among the people of Hous
ton and is a large property owner and
foremost citizen of this interesting and
prosperous city.
"I waa in a run-down condition,
continued Mr. Anderson, "and bad no
appetite at all. I could hardly sleep at
night and never felt like getting up in
the mornings, I was so tired. I had the
worst form of indigestion, suffered all
the time from gas on my stomach and
was continually belching up undigested
food. I had to take coffee without sug
ar, as when I drnnk it with sugar, I would
just belch for hours. I would bloat and
swell up like I was poisoned and suf
fered with neuralgic pains of the worst
sort, and nothing seemed to help me only
in a temporary way. I just can't tH you j
now i am sutler ior tne past lour years
and up to the time I began taking Tanlae,
a few weeks ago.
"When I read the testimonials of some
who hnd been relieved of troubles like
mine I just felt like I conldn't make a
mistake by taking Tan lac and it has
done even more for me than I had ex
pected. I began to feel better after
taking my first bottle and hare juat
now started on my third and I'm a dif
erent man already. I sleep like a log
now and eat just any and everything I
want without the slightest discomfort
afterwords. I am glad to endorse Tun
lac because it does the work and I'm tell
ing all my friends just what I'm telling
you, I never felt hetter In my life than
I do since taking Tanlac. I am willing
for you to publish my statement and
Irt evwry Buffering person who may
wish, benefit by my experience with thia
great medicine.
Tanlac ia now sold in Eugene by Linn
Drug company, and in Springfield by
John Kctels. Adr.
plies la the chief aim of the proposed
prohibition.
Mayor C. O. Peterson states today
that he had not yet determined whether
he would issue a proclamation prohibit
ing the sale and use of fireworks.
Mr. Wells says in his letter:
"Thia department ia mukiog a special
appeal to the mayors of Oregon to as
sist in the waging of a campaign for a
safe and sane Fourth of July.
"Action along this line is particularly
desirable at this time, because of the
advantage some persona might be dis
posed to take of this opportunity, under
the guise of a patriotic demonstration,
to inflict untold damage on property and
war supplies by explosions resulting in
disastrous fires.
"In line with this appeal and in har
mony with the action taken by other
mayors of the state, you are respectfully
urged to issue a proclamation prohibiting
the sale and use of fireworks of all
descriptions whatsoever in celebration of
Independence Day.
"x'our co-operation will contribute
largely to the protection of all food
supplies, war materials and other ne
cessities for the suport of our boys In
