Are Possible Exceptions.
"I do not think there Is miy question
but that the $0.0(10,000 road bond issue
will carry in every county in the stato
with the possible exception of linker,
l.inn, Lane and Curry," K. J. Adams,
member of the state highway commission,
stated today upon his arrival home. Mr.
Adams has just completed tho first lap

been completed. Tomorrow night he will
sneak at Newport. Wcduesday afternoon
he is billed for an address at Toledo and
Thursday afternoon at Yamhill. Satur
day he will address three meetings at Ar
lington, Condon nnd Fossil, morning, af
ternoon nnd evening, in order named.
Ho will speak at MoMlnnvillo, May 20
and at Oregon City, Juno 1.

Eugene Boys Do Not Stop for
Wet at Roseburg Strawberry
Festival.
The Eugene Boy's Drum corps was the
whole parade at Roseburg last Saturday
morning, kugene and Portland day at the
j Strawberry festival. Rain poured down
all morning. Every organization except
the Drum corps declined to march soak
ing down tho street. Tho boys pulled
their drums from under cr.nvns and rat
tled down the main way with water run
ning down their colors nnd splnshing into
their shoo tops.
The crowds jammed under awnings and
cheered the drummers as they went along
nt "quick time." -
Approximately 200 Eugene people went
to the festival on the excursion train Sat
urday morning. Despite the rain nnd
total lack of strawberries, local people
said that they enjoyed the trip.
Arrangements were made by Carl
Wnshburne, manager of tho organization,
whereby the Boy'B Drum corps will par
ticipate In the Round-up at Ashland on
July 3, 4 nnd 5.
Extensive advertising is being done by
the promoters of the Round-up to tell the
people of the state what will take place.
This will be the last big trip thnt the
corps will take this year. One other
shorter tour will be made this summer.
Hie delegates would be chosen by the

nationalist leader, spenking after the pre
mier had made his announcement, said
that for the first time in her history

posed to summon immediately a conven
tion of representative Irishmen in Ire
land to submit to the British parliament
a constitution for the future government
of Ireland. . ...
Premier Lloyd-George stated today
that the chairman of the proposed Irish
convention will be nominated by the
crown.
"If a substantial agreement i reach
ed regarding the character nd scope of
the constitution framed by the conven
tion," said the premier, "the government
will take the necessary steps to enable
the imperial parliament to give legisla
tive effect therein. The convention will
be held with closed doors."
The convention, said the premier,
would be representative of the local gov
