BUDDY RYAN GOES
HOME TO DENVER
Buddy Ryan,' Portland's favorite
player, who played four consecutive
years with the Heavers, has gone to
his home in Denver for the holidays,
which probably means that Portland
will see no more of the stocky out
fielder until he comes to Oregon in
the winter, to go hunting, which he
probably will. It being his favorite
pastime during the off-season.

ure that he will make good. Ryan
was tho logical leader in Pacific
coast batting last season, for he
played in 190 games, while Heltmul
ler of Los Angeles, who outranked

announced that he intended to join
Harry Abies at the latter's home in
Texas for a few weeks prior to re
porting to the Cleveland club at New

OUTLAW LEAGUE ".
TO BE FORMED IN '
EASTERN CITIES
Washington, Dec. 2 0. According
to an announcement here, plans are
being perfected for the establishment
of a new "outlaw" baseball league,
to have clubs in Brooklyn, Newark,
Pnterson, Reading, Washington,
Baltimore and Richmond. Leagues
protected by the national commission
have teams In all these cities. The
new organization is a revival of the
"outlaw" union league, which has a
brief existence In 1008, and is to be
called the Atlantic league.
TOM SEATON IS
RESTING THIS WINTER
Tom Seaton, the Beaver twirler
who is slated for a berth with the
Philadelphia nationals next season,
is resting up at Los Angeles. He has,
seemingly, taken the advice of Man
ager McCredie and Trainer Schmlcd-
er and quit pitching In the winter
league in order to have himself for
the strenuous task of making good
with the "Phillies." Seaton should
have no trouble in landing a berth
with the big fellows, providing he
is used judiciously and not overtax
ed too early in the season. Ore

versity team. "It was an 11-man
affair and, I believe, could defeat
any picked eleven In the northwest."
says the veteran tutor. "It looks to
an outsider that if Doblo remains
at Washington about three or four
of the next championships will re
main at Seattle."
