There are said to be ten thousand
peddlers in Chicago, and the antl

benefit of night workers of whom
there are a hundre dthousand here,
and whoso days of rest are broken
by cries of peddlers..
PROMINENT MAN
DIES IN ACCIDENT
Bakersfield, June 20. Free Ball,
a prominent businessman of Maricopa
and chief of the fire department, was
instantly killed today by coming in
contact with a live wire while fight
ing a fire which destroyed a large
portion of thte business section of the
town early today.
The loss Is $100,000.

false and misleading statements re.
garding the curative value of medi

labels be prohibited. "The bill," Shir
ley said, "is intended to make the
pure food law embrace those cases
of lnterestate shipments of worthless
medicines and drugs fraudaulently
held out to the public as possessing
curative properties."
