able property In the county and that
the company's assesshient has in
creased from $10,850.33 last year, to
$23, (108. 33 for the year ending April
4. 1011. This increase is the direct
result of the change In assessment
of timber land, of which the railroad
company owns 1 1,000 acres In th's
heart of tho valley. Instead of as
sessing .the timber and land as one
they have been assessed separately.
The total tax of the county Is $193,
705.05, of which $59,105 remains to
be collected. The Southern Pacific
company is the largest taxpayer in
the county.'

has accompanied the two leading
grand officers on many of their
visits. L. M. Curl, or Albany, is a
past grand chancellor of the order In
this state and one of Oregon's two
representatives to the supremo lodge
of the United States, has also assisted
In the Pythian activity of the year by
attending many of the district con
ventions and Pythian gatherings.
