AN EASY AND HARMLESS WAY
TO DARKEN THE HAIR.
Who do not know of the value of
age and aulphor for keeping the balr
dark, soft, glossy and in good condition?
As a matter of fact, sulphur is a natural
element of hair, and a deficiency of it
in the hair la held by many sculp spe
cialists to be connected with loss of
color and vitality of the hair. Unques
tionably, there is no better remedy for
bair and scalp tronbta, especially prema
ture grayness, than snge and sulphur, If
ipropcrly pfi-pared. The Wyeth Chemical
I Company, 74 Cortlandt St., New York
City, put np sn 'ideal preparation of this
kind, called Wyeth's Sago and Sulphur.
It is sold by all leading druggists for

AMUSEMENTS
"A Broken Ldol" that triple city
success which will appear here
Thursday night has been Justly term
ed by press critics a musical farclcl
allty of many surprises. Among the
many surprises that created talk
during Its Chicago, New York and
Hoston successful runs was "The
nalloon," "The Human Dragon",
"The world's merry-go-round", and
"the living rose bushes". William
F. Mann, who submits this attrac
tion, has sueceeded In re-engaging
nearly all of the original company
as well as Gus Sohlke, who staged
the original production, to stage It.
The book was written by Hal Steph
ena, mimic and lyrics by Egbert Van
Alstyne and Harry Williams, writers
of more than a score of successful
musical comedies. Scene one is
laid In Chinatown, Los Angeles,
during the Chinese New Year cele
bration: scene two at Silas Pugsley's
home, Santa Monica, California. Mr.
Sohlke has taken great care In selec
tion of his chorus and it can be
truthfully called an American Beau
ty Chorus. The book is bright and
crispy, the music of the whistling
kind and is being played on tour by
such bands as Sousa and Creatore.
It takes a big company of fifty to
produce it and Manager Mann has
spared no expenses to make it the
leading comedy of the day.

SIMPLY A QUESTION
OF VERACITY
Lillian A. Turnbull Blushes
Shame in Course of Examination
to
Los AngeleB, Dec, 20. More let
ters came out of the past today to
confront Mrs. Lillian A. Turnbull,
star witness in the "Lucky" Baldwin
will contest, but with remarkable
fortitude the ready wit and wariness
that carried her safely over the clev
erly set traps, the woman who is
fighting for $2,600,000 as her daugh
ter's share of the late turfman's es
tate, not only met the attacks of
cross-examination but frequently
fought back.
ThiB morning Mrs. Turnbnll faced
an onslaught and was calm, al
though the questions hurled at her
frequently made the other women in
the court room blush and look down.
This afternoon, when apparently by
an agreement of counsel, the attor
neys of the opposing side treated her
with more consideration, she started
to heckle them in return.
Gavin McNeb, In his cross-examination,
continued his efforts to show
the jury that Mrs. Turnbull had not
been a spotless woman until she
yielded to the blandishments of
Lucky Baldwin, as she alleges.
In one of the letters Introduced
occured a passage describing an oath
taken by Mrs. Turnbull regardilng
the paternity of Beatrice A. Turn
bull, the plaintiff In the present case.
As written, this passage declared
Colonel Albert Pope to be the father
of her child. Mrs. Turnbull declar
ed the name of Pope was forged and
what she did swear to was that Bald
win was the father.
