Following Is the report of the en
gineer on the Slnslaw Jetty work for
June:
The Port of Slnslaw Commission,
Florence, Or.
Gentlemen: The following is a
report of operations in the improv
ing of the entrance to Slnslaw river
for the month of June, 1910, contract
of Robert Wakefield, dated Dec. 21,
1909:
Work was in progress during the
entire month, the weather conditions
were very favorable and a good rate
of progress was maintained.
The jetty tramway was extended
seaward a distance of 705 feet during
the month, and the sea end bei.i is
now No. 67. or a total distance of
1005 feet from the wharf.
The first delivery of stono was
made on June 15 and with few ex
ceptions daily deliveries were made
during the balance of the 'month. No
brush mattresses have so far been
placed in the work, but their use will
be begun in the immediate future,

Another stamp mill will be in op
eration in the Bohemia mining dis
trict withi-a thirty day?. Lewis Hart-I
ley, who has a number of claims in
Saylor's gulch, has bought a Nissen
one-stamp mill, and the same was re
ceived from Seattle Monday. It is an
entirely new pattern and, having a
13 00-pound stamp, is guaranteed by
the 'manufacturers to have a greater
capacity than the ordinary 6-stamp
mill. lie has also bought and has
received a six horsepower gasoline
engine with which to operate the
mill. During the past month a sled
read a mile In length has been blast
ed to Saylor's gulch, this work hav
ing been found necessary in order
to get the new machinery into tne
camp. Leader.
