ON SAFE MATRIMONY
Cost of Living After Marriage
Greater Than Before for
9ftespectable Man
Chicago. OcT.-Matrimonial
mishaps and how to avoid them was
T text of an address delivered be
Sre th" Kilo Association a woman a
club, by Rev. D. D. Vaughn, last
night. About 2U0 young women lis
tened to the discourse and went to
their homes with some of the fol
lowing epigrams to ponder over
Marriage la the normal state, but
It is no longer a necessary state.
Women often marry iur
for moey, or because they wish to
show some other women that the)
can marry that particular man.
Learn to understand your hus
bands 'men are transparent.
Pretty girls are not in demand;
neat girls are.
To hold the love of your husband,
keep fooling him. Make him believe
you are the augel they supposed you
were before the wedding ceremony.
Women should love their husbands
more thun their children or parents,
otherwise they will not be ideally
happv.
The minister's subject was "Mat
rimony." which, he said, he had been
studving for over a year and upon
which he felt competent to talk, inas
much as he had circulated questions
bearing upon that subject to his con
gregation, and had received over 200
answers.
"The Idea that a man can live
cheaper after he is married than he
did before is fallacious and mislead
ing," said Mr. Vaughn. "That Is
possible only when the candidate for
matrimonial honors has spent his In
come In riotous living. The single
man who has been thriving will find
that when be gets married he will
'be called upon to spend three times
as much for living expenses as he
did bfor."
