Triangular Tomorrow May Con

Eugene.
The triangular track meet tomor
row among the universities of Ida
ho, Washington and Oregon is the
biggest, meet ever held in Eugene,
and the question will be put after
the attendance is counted of the
place for the meet next year. Since
the formation of the league the
meet has been held at Seattle, but
this year as a conference affair will
also be pulled off there, and as the
gate receipts were always smull in
the Sound City, the University man
agement succeeded In having the
meet held in Eugene.
If the box office shows enough re
ceipts to pay the expenses, In all
likelihood the meet will continue to
be held In Eugene.
Trainer Hayward will not have
his team officially selected until this
evening or in the morning. A team
was published yesterday in several
papers, and while tho personnel will
probably be almost the same there
may be some differences.

Physical Director Hayward of the
University confirmed the report last
night that Oregon had signed an
agreement with the Multnomah club
to play in Portland with the club
eleven on Thanksgiving after next
fall, when Multnomah plays in Eu
gene. The contract was made about
two months ago, but was not made
public for the sake of the Btanding
of th eclub.
The agreement wns the result of
a three-cornered battle, according to
Mr. Hayward, nnd the attempted
coup that Director Augell of the
Agricultural College tried to spring
was the blessing that turned the
tide to Hayward an dto Oregon.
Hayward, from every evidence,
played fair with Angell, nnd noti
fied him of every conference he had
with the Multnomah people, so that
no complaint could be made. An
gell, on the other hand, tried to get
the club officials to agree Id a three
year contract between Multnomah
and the Agricultural College, with
out letting Hayward know of his
plan.
"Bill" discovered the scheme be
fore it had fully culminated and
then made a direct effort and signed
up the contract that was unoffi
cially announced In The Guard and
several other papers over a week
ago.
By the conditions of contract Ore
gon also receives much belter terms,
and the friends of the veleran train
er are congratulating him on that
portion of the contract. Oregon now
gets fifty per cent of all the re
ceipts, grandstand, bill board adver
tising and general admission. Each
team must pay for all the compli
mentary tickets that it issues, and
for all its own expenses. The rem
Is also paid from the gross receipts.
Formerly Oregon did not receive
anything from the grandstand, which
holds 4200 people, and nohtiir; from
the bill boards. Moreover, the club
members with season tickets were
admitted to the game free of charge.

Hawkins Freshman Captain.
Martin W. Hawkins has been cho
sen captain of the freshman truck
team. Hawkins won the fill-yard hur
dles at the Multnomah Indoor meet
early In the year, and won the broad
jump and third place in the hurdles
at the Columbia meet. In Satur
