Tragedy in Farmhouse
Near Corvallis
Corvullla. Or., Dec. 28. Mis. J. (I. :
Morris was accidentally shot and
killed at her home one and a half
miles north of thU olty Sunday afler
noon. A chitrge from a sholgun In
tho hands of a 9-year-old son, who
did not know the gun was loaded,
aorered the large arterly of the right
leg and the woman bled to death In
a very short time.
This fatality Is the dlroct result of
the forgetfulness of Mr. Morris, the
victim's husband, who on returning
from a bunting trip, laid his loaded
gun on I ho table. The young ion.
who. It seems, had often been per
mitted to clean lb firearm, picked It
up for that purpose. The gun went
off and Mrs. Alorils, who stood by
the stove, not tan feet distant, re
ceived tho full oiiarge.
It is said that Mr. Morria is all
but Insane over' the tragedy. Mrs
Morris was about K years of age snd
the mother of a family, the majority i
of the children being grown. !
