Bey in 'Linn county. They moved to
Eugene about 1887 and' have lived

Miss May, at home. The son, Isaac

eld. Three children are dead, two
having died in Iowa and one in Ore
gon. Mr. Larimer was a member of the

with the local church in Eugeue. He

Whether Walter Damrosr.h was richt or wronc in savins' that
more classical music in homes would lessen the number of divor-'
ces we don't pretend to know, but all of us know homes that
would be more comfortable for some members of the family with
less ragtime music.
The Guard's voting contest to select a delegation of young
ladies to attend the Seattle exposition should prove a very pop
ular election. Not many counties in the state will send a large
delegation of this kind, and it will be only another evidence at
the big fair that Eugene and Lane county are on the map.
Meddling scientists won't even let the man born tired get a
rest in peace. One of them has actually discovered a laziness
antitoxin, which will make men like to work. A few doses
might be used to advantage hereabouts.
Lane county's annual poultry show will be held in Eugene
next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Commendable interest
is being taken in the arrangements and a splendid exhibition
may be looked forwar dto. .
Maybe there will be some important legislation, aside from
the appropriation bills, .put through at the present session of
congress, but if there is the gentlemen who are bossing the out
fit will be badly scooped.
It's all very well to knock the selfishness shown at the tariff
hearing, but when business propositions are discussed without a
.display of selfishness we shall be well into the millenium.'
