CASTRO'S IRON RULE
OVER VENEZUELA
EARING ITS
END
Caracas, Monday, via Willemstad Wednesday, Doc. 1G.
The people of Caracas arose today against Castro. An infuri
ated mob, unhindered by the police, swept through tho city,
wrecking the property of the president's honchmen und his clos
est friends. The people rounded up all statues and pictures of
the president from the clubs and other somi-public buildings,
and burned them on the Boulevard de Plaza. President Castro's
rule in Venezuela is probably ended.

Caracas, Tuesday, via Willemstad Wednesday Tho Venez
uelan capital yesterday was the scene of the outbreak of disor-
der, following the warlike activities of tho Dutch' warships.
Martial law was declared in order to put a stop to the rioting and
pillaging. Several agitators were arrested. There was no ac
tual conflict between the people and pollco, and all foreigners
were unmolested.
Further dangerous demonstrations are anticipated. No offi
cial act to depose President Castro has been taken, but it is ex
pected at any moment. The troops were called out by Acting
President Gomez, who issued a proclamation prohibiting any
further manifestations.
