Attorney J. M. Williams says this

ly. Only last night a. 13-year-old girl
was caught taking an article off the
counter at Hill's gun store. After
taking her name and address Mr. Hill
let her go, but warned her that she

It, is learned that nothing further
will be done on the Eugene-Spring-
fleld trolley line this winter, but that

Some attention should be given to
the muddy condition of the pavement
on Willamette and other streets. The
mud should be scraped off and the
sweeper used often enough to pre
vent the mud from accumulating.

Bourne, has been nominated by Pres
ident Roosevelt for postmaster of
Portland. The president's recom
mendation was sent to tho senate to
day. The announcement created a
sensation, as Washington had been
hearing conflicting reports as to the
status of Senator Bourne at the
White House. Young received many
congratulations from friends here.
He refused to discuss' the political
