' No case of contagious blood poison is ever cured until the last particle
, of the virus has been removed from the circulation. The least taint left in
the blood will sooner or later, cause a'fresh outbreak of the trouble, with all
its hideous and destructive symptoms of ulcerated mouth and -throat, copper
colored splotches, falling hair, sores and ulcers, etc No other medicine so
suicly cures contagious blood poison as S. S. S. It goes down into the
blood and steadily and surely drives out every particle of the infection. It
absolutely and perfaUly purifies the blood, and leaves this vital fluid as fresh,
rich and healthy as it was before the destructive virus of contagious blood
MiiKn entered the circulation. S. S. S. quickly takes effect on the blood,
' and rradually the symptoms disappear, the health is improved, the skin
' clear., j of all spots, sores and other blemishes, the hair stops coming out,
the mouth and throat heal and when S. S. S. has cleansed the system of the
poison no trace of the disease is left S. S. S. cures contagious blood poison
' because it is the greatest of all blood purifiers, tested and proven for more
than forty years. Book on this disease with suggestions for home treatment,
and any medical advice sent free to all who write.

There was quite a stir on the

Rush Island's 'belles. Mr. Calllson
soon straightened things around, and
all was quiet for about two hours,
and at the appointed hour, 11 o'clock,

land office, is in LaGrande checking
the accounts of A. A.- Roberts, receiv

that the investigation will uncover Ir
regularities of extensive scope. Rob
erts is probably worth $10,000 and
he could mane gooa a snormge io

since his arrival in LaGrande, and Is
well liked by the patrons ot tne lana

EX-JUDGE ROOT
MAKEt STATEMENT
Seattle. . Was.. ; Das. 6. Breaking
his silence for the first time slnae his
resignation from the supreme court
bench of the state of Washington,
former Justice MUo A. Root today
statfd that the troubles with which,
he has become involved and which
led to his resignation were brought
about through trusting a friend he
had known for 20 years.
"Rut let me say first," said Mr.
Root, "I am not corrupt. I did not
receive a single penny. I did not ask
for a cent and what has been done
has been done honestly and above
hoard. I do not care to say that
Judge Gordon took my letters to the
Great Northern railway and capital
ized them for any amount. All I
know about that Is what friends of
mine have tlod me."
Broken in Spirit and Fortune.
Judge Root is a broken-hearted
man. Not only that, but he Is sick
and almost penniless.
"I don't want to talk about this
case," he said. "The Bar Association
Is now Investigating and it Is not a
matter that I should talk about. I
will be vindicated, I have no doubt.
I have done nothing dishonest, and if
I had received the thousands of dol
lars which it Is claimed I have re
ceived there certainly should be some
evidence of It here."
