Four University of Oregon players
are credited with places on tlrfc All
Northwest football team by the Ore
gonlan and three by the Oregon Jour

nlan, gave Dodson, who has played
such a brilliant style in Portland, the
left end position, and Robert A. Cro

son for his brilliant work.
The men as they made the coveted
honor team are Moullen, guard;
Clarke, fullback; Pinkham, left tac
kle, and Dodson, left end. Wolf, of
the O, A. C.r plays a half back posi
tion, and Mucklestone, of Washing
ton, the other back. Coyle, of Wash
ington, Is admitted by all as the log
ical man for quarter. Jamison, of O.
A. C, Is given a tackle, over jakln,
the big Washington freshman, and
Grlmm, of Washington, is generally
chosen for end. Cronin also gives a
halfback position to - Borleske, of
Whitman.

fttf ,tHaf position, but as Dudley Is a
uackfleld man, and much of the time
this year was field captain he ap
parently stands the best chance.
.Coach Forbes Is almost certain to
be chosen coach again, if he will ac
cept. While at the first of the season
it was considered likely tnat ne cou;q
be retained here, the opinion now
prevails that he will consent to an
other contract.
In case Forbes should decline the
headship of the University coaching
forces next yeaiv Ole"- ArnBptgeFnaB
been spoken of as a coming man. He

from the-way he handled the second
team this year, would use excellent
Judgment. In the production of a team.
In any case he Is likely to De retained,
as assistant for next year, If he will
consent. Otherwise Fred Moullen
Moullen may be given the job, as he
Is not likely to graduate until next
year, and Will be barred from play
ing under the four-year rule.
Oregon will lose this year by the
four-year rule and by graduation

FAMOUS OIL CASE
GOES TO SUPREME
; COURT OF NATION
Washington, Nov. 30. Another
step in the government-suit aguinBt
the Standard Oil Company of Indiana
goes on record today, when the coun
sel for the government applies to the
supreme, court for a writ of certio
rari, thus bringing the fams re
bate case before the highest' tribunal.
This is the case In which the court
of appeals reversed Judge Landls'
fine of $29,240,000 against the cor
poration. The government In its petition for
a writ of certiorari advances as its
principal prayer the Importance of
the interpretation by the supreme
court of the United States of certain
clauses in the railroad tebate law.
It is pointed out that several sections
of the Elklns lasr -are not sufficiently
explicit in view of tho conflicting
court decisions and that the court of
last resort should for the Jienofit of
all concerned take jurisldction of the
case and give a construction which
will be final and binding upon all In
ferior courts.
The officials of the department of
justice who are most closely Identi
fied with the Standard Oil suit have
found upon aa examination that the
supreme court refuses to- grant writs
of certiorari In cases decided by the
United States circuit court.; of appeal
unless the questions at issue involve
the interpretation or the constitution
ality of the law. The government
contends that under the rare filing
one circuit court of appeals may
place one construction upon it, and
another court In another circuit a
conflicting construction, and that It
- afhlA that nlno rilFfoi-ont
structioni may come from me nine
circuits. The complications that
could arise have been used for their
full effect in the petiWon of the gov
ernment and the officials of the de
partment of Justice are confident that
the court will grant the request for
a construction of the law.
