Washington, Nov. 24. The treasury department has award
ed the contract for the construction of tho federal building at Eu
gene to Welch Bros., of Salem, Or., for $64,057. The con
tract calls for plumbing, gas piping, heating apparatus, electric
conduits and wiring, and the completion of tho building by De
comber 1, 1909.
The Guard understands that the successful bidders expect
to begin work on the foundation for the building at once, as it
will be necessary to rush construction in order to have every,
thing completed in a year's time.
