WANT CITY HALL AT
8TH AND PEARL STREETS
East Eugene Improvement Club
Passes Resolutions at Meet
ing Saturday Night
The East Eugene Improvement Club
at Its meeting Saturday night talked
on various Important matters pertain
ing to city improvements and espec
ially to the interest of East Eugene.
Among those taken up and discussed
was the site for a city hall, and while
no one had any individual Interest
yet It was generally conceded that
the city should at once act and pro
cure a suitable site for a new-build-in.
The following- resolution waa of
fered and unanimously passed: .. ..
.lWhiftB. The" city of Eugene does
not own any lot upon whloh It can
build a city hall, and Inasmuch as
values of property are continually
advancing and desirable locations are
more and more disposed of, and while
at the present time there still remains
a moBt desirable lot that can be pur
chased, although at a much higher
price than it could formerly have
been bought, however, inasmuch as
this location is the most central and
best adapted for a city hall, therefore
be It
Resolved, That the common council
be urged to Immediately purchase the
lot, which is known as the Henderson
correr, at Eighth and Pearl streets,
Just east of the court house, and that
a copy of this resolution be sent to
the common council of the r.lty of Eu
gene, and to the Dally Guard and
Resistor
The club also discussed at lengtn
the extension of water mains into
East Eugene and the installation of
water mains cmfwyp ? hkafi.fi
sewers through that portion of the
city. Also the question of installing
a power plant for pumping on the Mc-
Kenzie was taken up, and a commit
tee appointed to prepare a resolution
covering this question to be acted up
on at the next meeting of theclub.
East Eugene Is wide awake on the
question of civic Improvements nnd
much has been accomplished nlong
this lino by the club.

DON FULANO
HAS HUMAN BRAIN
AND CAN USE IT
Don Fulano, the wonder horso
who Is appearing at the Orpheum
theatre this week, drew a crowded
house last night, aj,a
l-l .hrm ara tlTinC today Of
wonderful accomplishments. This
little horse seems to have a oumaa
brain and knows how to use it, nis
special forte being mathematics, in
gome cities local committees have
endeavored to puzzle him with prob
lems of their own but in every in
stance he has come out with flying
colors. Don Fulano .is not merely a
trained horse; he undoubtedly un
derstands the questions asked him
and knows how to answer. This fact
has been demonstrated to the satis
faction of the audience time and
again Just as it was last night at
the Orpheum. .
If you ever took any Interest m
the nature-faking controversy that
President Roosevelt and other prom
inent men have been participants in,
and really desired to study the sub
ject of animal intelligence, you
ought to go to the Orpheum some
nlaht thin week nnd see the little
horse that has received so many col
umns of notices in the biggest news
papers of the country. Not only is
Don Fulano's entertainment Instruc
tive but it Is tiiehly entertaining and
you will go away from the theatre
a staunch admirer 01 me
clever little equine.

Recent hospital reports show
that the dread disease, rheumatism,
Is steadily Increasing throughout the
country. All known means of relief
are being, suggested to save the great
amount of suffering this winter, es
pecially among those who are not In
position to pack up and visit the
noted health resorts to be treated.
Recent tests prove rheumatism not
exactly a disease in Itself, but a se
vere condition caused by clogged up
pores of the elinilnatlve tissues in
the kidneys which fail to filter the
poisonous waste matted and uric acid
from the blood, permitting these sub
stances to remain In the veins and
decompose, usually settling about the
loints and muscles, causing the in
tense pain, swelling and stiffness of
rheumatism.
The following simple home treat
ment win cure Rheumatism and is
harmless and lnexpensire and u
simple that anybody ofi rac it at
home.
