Cunha, 63 years old and -father of 50
living chjluron,. was sentenced tQ the
workhouse tor a year yesterday bri a
charge of non-aupport nnd neglect of
njaipur-day-old twins. ,T

the authorities that a woman and her
new-born twins were atnrving. An
Investigation showed Cunha was the
woman's husband and he was ar
rested. On the witness stand he admitted
ho had a divorced wife living in New
Bedford to whom he had been mar
ried eleven years. During that time
she had given birth to five sets of
twins, two sets of triplets and two
odd sons, IS children.
Another divorced wife, who is now
In Portugal, is the mother of all his
other children except the set of
twins born to his present wife and a
daughter who preceded them.
