HARD PRACTICE
HELD LAST NIGHT
AT UNIVERSITY
The football practice last night at
the University was the most severe
held this year. Buck after buck, by
the candidates for the back fieM,
were made Into the line of the two
elevens. At one time seven men were
stretched out after a play was made.
No really serious injuries were re
ported, though. Michael, the end, was
stunned and Main, the tackle, re
ceived a bad blow on the head.
The football was the kind they
used to play under the old rules. The
men seemed Imbued with the fighting
spirit that Oregon has long been
famed for.
The men of the dormitory pledged
themselves last night to attend the
practices and to root for the men.
Enthusiasm at the practices has not
been up to the stanaard Yell Leader
Looseley has set, and the dorm men
are determined to come up to the
standard of enthusiasm required.

Herb Clarke has been appointed
manager or debate and oratory.
Miss Beatrice J. Barker, formerly
of the University of California, has
been employed as a cataloguer at the
