V.KK Market Hooiteil A train
While only one firm was quoting
loiul ranch eggs above 37 1-2 cents
today, this place was asking and re
ceiving 4 0 cents a dozen for the lim

market was constaeraiiiy inner.
While some believed Iho market bad

g ueral opinion of the trade was that

morning. To force t Ills advance III. lo

Hunt, every one along the street
knows that It Is tho holders of the
Kastom Block that put the local pro
duct to a higher point in ordr that
they can sell under them and make
more money. The two cars of Kast
ern eggs which arrived yesterday
have therefore found a good demand.
Chicken Market Is Higher
A higher range of values Is quoted
today In the local chicken market.
Receipts are light, and the smaller
buyers and In fact some of the lar
iger ones are again In the market.
The result Is an advance of about 1-2
cent u pWiid In the price for all the
grades.
Creamery butter market Is holding
firm, with only a fractional Increase
In local mamifiictured stock. Makers
repor t demand and supplies Just
about equal.
Apple Move at Low Price
While the regular fall movement of
appb'has not begun In earnest, there
Is a ill Increase noted In sales dur
ing the past few days. Low prices
are .the rule.. Il taking something ex-ei-eillngly
good In quality to bring
$1.25. Manv sales around 50d 75c.

Hon. and the Front street trade con-
demns the action of a locnO'Venlng
and morning paper In talking of high
prices and a firm market Just to help
one houRC along the street sell us Cal
ifornia product. The truth offyie
matter Is that grapes are a drucin
the market here. One car of the Cal
ifornia product has been on the track
since Inst week, thus indicating the
lack of buyers. Low prices are the re
sult, some sales of quite fair quality
tokavs being made to the trade today
as low ns 50 cents a crate. Nothing
along the slrMl will bring more than
$1 a crate, and $1 tock is hard to
find.

Cheese Price Tend Upward
CheeBe Is very firm In the local
market and prices have an upward
tendency. There is a strong demand
from California for Oregon cheese,
and also a fair Inquiry from the
north.
Butler was quoted steady to firm

After a period of steadiness, the East

of 5 cents. thiiB indicating that the
bottom of jtjie present movement has

Sheep market is quiet at formel
prices. A
Mr. Hunt, or Hunt &".acy, says of
conditions: "The entire livestock
market is In bad shape today, and
buyers seem to be walling'untll arter
election. Hogs are rather quiet but
strictly prime stuff, weighing around
225 pounds, may still bring $6.50.
Stuff of all kinds Is coming too fast
for the present demand."
"Every one is filled up with live
stock," said .Mr. Gould, of Hen3on &
Could, today, "and the markets are
overloaded. It is hardi to sell any
thing just now."
A year ago today hogs were weak:
cat lie and sheep firm: no change in
