Washington, D. C, Oct. 15. For
tho first time in history the crowned
ruler of an European monarchy has
been honored by being nwnrded nn
American order or decoration. The
Board of Governors of the American
Cross of Honor Association met here
todav and nwnrded to Victor Emun
uel III, king of Italy, a crosB of honor,
which will be transmitted to the king
in proper form. The king was elect
ed an honorary member of the order
last February, nnd nccepted the hon
or by letter on May 31. 1908.
The cross of honor. Is of gold nnd
enamel, tins the form of a Maltese
cross. In the centre of which Is the
American shield, while the letters A.
C. H. and the date, 1906, are on the
four points. The wole Is encircled
by a wreath of laurel. An eagle dis
played holds the laurel wreath in its
beak, and Is suspended from a ribbon
ftf a dark shade of blue.
