An adjourned session of the city
council was held last night and sev
eral matters of more or less Impor
tance were attended to. President of
tho Council J. M. Williams presided
at the meeting In the absence of May
or Matlock.
Tho street committee made a re
port on tho straightening of Charuel
ton Btreet near West Twelfth and on
Improvements on West Twelfth. The
matter was referred back to the com
mittee. The cost of paving around the
parks was reported at $18,470, and
tho Warren Construction Company
was paid SO per cent of same.
Tho matter of tho extension of the
Jefferson street sewer and some lat
erals was referred to the sewer com
mittee to securo rights-of-way over
private property ami It gave them
power to act.
The fire and water committee was
Instructed to purchase enough 41 Inch
water pipe to replace the 3-Inch pipe
on West Eighth street whoro the new
pavement Is to be laid.
A petition for an arc light at the
corner of Thirteenth and Chnrnelton
streets was referred to the fire and
water committee.
The placing of an Incandescent
light at the Intersection of some of
the alleys 111 the business district was
referred to the fire and water com
mittee with power to act.
The city engineer reported that
Amazon creek could be properly
