j KliMTlOS OF TAVT
! Oyster , Hay, Sept. 20. President
Roosevelt, In a letter to William H.
.McKinley, chairman of t he Republi
can congressional committee, made
public today, appeals to disinterested
citizens to join with the National Re
publican committee in a movement to
elect William H. Tr.ft as president
.and choose a Republican congress to
1 support him.
I After reviewing some of the im-
portant legislation of the past seven
years, the president declares that
I Mr. Taft and the lionuhlican candi
dates for congress seek election on a
platform which specifically pleuges
i the party to continue and develop
tne policies winch have been followed
for several years past.
Not Partltuin Matter
All the aid that can be given to

ment as now carried on, the president

REPUBLICAN PLAN
OF CAMPAIGN WILL
NOT BE CHANGED
Cincinnati. Sept. 21. It Is
reiterated here today that
the calling of the executive
and advisory committees of
the Republican National com-
mlttee Into greater Activity
meant simply that the com-
mittees would arise to the
greater amount of work to be
done, for which they were
called Into existence. Judge.
Taft again emphasized that
he had no criticism to make
of Chairman Hitchcock but
regards the work dune by
the national chairman as efl'i-
dent and effective.
Chicago, Sept. 21. The stories to
the effect that there has been a
change, or Is to bp a change In thej
management of the Republican Na-,
tlonal campaign appear to he with-1
out the slightest foundation. The As-j
soclated l'ress has caused Inquiries !
to be made at. every place that could ,
be expected to supply reliable Infor
mation on the subject, and II. Is do-'

dared the campaign is being conduct
ed along Hues originally planned and
that the program will be continued
without alteration.
Apparently the stories that there
would be a change In tin manage
ment of the campaign and that
Hitchcock would be subordinated in
authority, although remaining nom
inally at the head of the committee,
originated from a statement that
Senator Crane would vlsll Western
headquarters In this city, and to the
tact that lie hail been In communica
tion with Tail at Cincinnati. The
truth Is thai Crene came to Chicago
at the request of Chairman llliell
coek to discuss the 'inanclnl end of
the campaign. Money is cumin ;
slowly from the West and Middle
Wtst. There has been considerable
criticism that the can.pnU'n has not
shown sufficient uction, and UPvli
coek and his advisers have worked to
plan it so that no ammunition would
be wasted, and to jliake the cam
paigns In states wherj local quarrels
have overshadowed the national cam
paign, and Is so happens that It Is
in states regarded as doubtful that
these conflicts were being carried on.
Hitchcock refuses to be ruffled by
criticism of his conduct of the campaign.
