Eugene Is the best advertised town
la the Northwest, Everywhere you
g0, even far in the middle west, peo
ple' have heard of Eugene and many
are becoming interested.
The Northwest and Northeast of
this great country have joined hands.
Maine adopted the Oregon Initiative
and referendum amendment by 70,
000 majority this week.
Since Judge Parker said, "I am
nt willing to run for governor of
New York," the curious have been
anxious to find out who was trying
to compel him to.
The campaign seems to be warm
ing up a little in the East. In Oregon
where there are few persons out of
work, people .haven't much time to
devote to politics. ' 4
Hon. Leslie Shaw seems to be more
prominent in the politics of other
states than his own? Is Gov. Cum
mins responsible for this, or is it ac
cidental? :
Even the Mormons are to get
theirs. A breakfast food factory, the
only one west of Battle Creek, Mich.,
is to be established In Salt Lake City.
What right have we to throw
stones at the Cubans because every
man-jack of them wants a nice pad
ded seat at the public pie-counter?
A liberal price, and no questions
asked, will be paid by Governor Cum
mins Tor a key guaranteed to unlock
the Iowa Senatorial deadlock.
Fifteen thousand dollars and fif
teen thousand people for Eugene
next year! It's easy it everybody
pulls together.
If conference could win an elec
tion, the managers of both parties
would have a cinch on victory, with

WHEN PAPA'S SICK.
When papa's sick, my goodness
sakes 1
Such awful, awful times it makes.
He speaks in oh! such lonesome
tones.
And gives such ghastly kinds of
groans,
And rolls his eyes and holds' his
head,
And makes ma help him up to bed;
While Sis and Bridget run to heat
Hot water bags to warm his feet,
And I must get the doctor quick
We have to jump when papa's sisk.
When papa's sick ma has to stand
Right side the bed and hold his hand,
While Sis she has to fan an' fan,
For he says he's "a dyin' man,"
And wants the children round him to
Be there when "sufferln". pa gets
through;"
And kiss us all and then he'll die;
Then moans and says "his breathln's
thick"
It's awful sad when papa's sick.
When papa's sick he acts that way
Until he hears the doctor say,
"You've only got a cold, you know,
You'll be all right in a day or so."
And then well, say! you ought to
see.
He's different as a man can be.
And growls and scolds from noon to
night
Just 'cause his dinner ain't cooked j
right,
And all he does is fuss and kick i
We're all used up when papa's sick.
