wherein John W. Kern, the Democrat-,
ic nominee for vice president, sought
and obtained from I). M. Parry, ex
presldent of the National Association
of Manufacturers and a prominent
Republican, an expression of opinion
hostile to the posting of "prosperity
placards in factories to the effect
that "on the day after the election
of Taft and Sherman this mill will
start up full force."
Kern asked Parry: "In the light

pretenses?"'
Parry replied that he was not in
sympathy with such abuse of the pow
