FLORENCE TO HAVE
NINE MONTHS SCHOOL
At a meeting of the board f direc
tors of Florence disrrlci held Tuesday
evening it waa decided to have nine
months school in this district this
year, to commence September 7.
A letter was received from Profes
sor Wimberly, of Nebraska, stating
that he and his wife will accept the
positions offered them by the board.
This makes the corps of teachers
for tbe coming year as follows:
Professor Wimberly. principal;
Miss Colvln. Intermediate; Mrs. Wim
berly, primary.
We are informed that Supervisor
Austin has received Instructions from
the county court to begin work at
opening the county road from Maple
Creek over the lvlde to Sweet Creek
and continue operations until the
road Is completed or until he receives
instructions to quit work.
Several of the Indians of this vi
cinity received letters a few days ago
trom U. G. Wilson, a special disburs
ing agent, requesting them to meet
him in Eugene tomorrow, on buslnesa

night in a whirlwind finish and to-
day the primary is being neio.

and has attracted wide atention. Mr.
Leland claims that he will carry the
state by a large majority, while Mr.
Stubbs is equally confident. The
choice of a successor to Chester 1.

primary and fully as much interest
is manifested In this contest as in
the fight for the nomination for gov
ernor. Senator Long Is a candidate
for re-election and is opposed by Jo
seph L. Brlstow, who was formerly
fourth assistant Postmaster general.
Candidates for minor places on the
Btate ticket and for county offices
are also selected at the primary. Ad
vices from various parts of the state
received early in the day Indicate
that an unusually large vote will be
polled.

Guthrie, Okla., Aug. 4. A gen
eral primary for the nomination of
candidates for state offices and mem
bers of the legislature is being held
throughout Oklahoma today. Tick
