The following from the Medford
Mall concerns a graduate of the Uni
versity of Oregon with the class of
1898:
William Hydo Stalker was yesler
day fined $15 lu tho court of Justice
Cannon In this city for assault and
battery upon the person of J. A. Both
well. Mr. llotlnvell was the com
plaining witness.
Mr. Stalker pleaded guilty and the
fine. was Imposed without a formal
trial.
Tho assault upon Mr. Bothwnll took
place on .Monday In front of the Ho
tel Nash. Mr. Iloihwell Is said to
have been approached and struck by
Mr. Stalker owing to differences aris
ing between the two men over the af
fairs of tho Healty Kond Byndicato of
Oregon.
After tho assault on Monday Mr.
Stalker visited the recorder's court
and paid a fine of I0 for disturbing
mo peace oi me city, it was proba
bly duo to this fact that he was not
moro heavily fined In the Justice's
court.
