SMALL ELECTRIC DYNAMOS AHK
CONTEMPLATED AS REMEDY
FOR HIGH BATES CAMPBELL.
FELLMAN, ELECTRIC AND
DREAMLAND THEATRES FIBST
INNOVATORS.
Small Independent electric Might
plant are expected to be installed
by some of toe leading business men
soon. High rates (or electricity is
the cause. Since the city has pur
chased the water plant, and. arrange
ments can be made at reasonable
rates for water power, the little dy
namos so common all over tne coun
try are expected.to prove' a saving
proposition.
The CampbeU-Follman company
and the Electric and Dreamland thea
tres will -probably bei the . first : en
terprising Innovators. In case the
first experiments are successful; a
number of other heavy users are cer
tain to follow the inltlative'of these
promoters.
The probability of great extension
of the Independent dynamos is small
for the reason that tne Willamette
Valley company when threatened by
such Independent 'competition is sure'
to lower rates. Thus it may be that
problems of high light service wHl
be solved soon, without overloading
the pumps of the municipal water
nlant. .. However, it Is quite possible
that the electric light company may
choose to let those desiring to manu
facture their own electricity drw
Ithelr power from the water 'system,
which 1s pumped by' electric power
belonging to the same concern which
furnishes Eugene lights. . '-
Small dynamos are not costly-. In
the first Investment, nor In opera
tion. Many farmers operate them
from streams with very little 'care.
Any man can look after a plant, it is
said, with 20 minutes attention a
day. The dynamos rarely give se
rious trouble and do not need the
presence of an electrician for suc
cessful operation.
In some cases the price of light
service In Eugene has been very high.
During the summer months one store
which closes every night at 6 o'clock,
excepting Saturdays' is' .charged from
$18 to (20. In the case of theatres,

The streets have just been" nicely graded and the sale of lots is
brisk. Many people t are buying the very choicest residence lots
at lower prices than will ever again be offered in Eugene.
People are waking up to the unusual advantages of BLAIR
STREET ADDITION.
Do you realize what an investment in this addition will do for you? How can it avoid ad
Vancing in value with these lots lying right against the built up district,' and where the
' city is certain to get its greatest growth? Let one of the agents named below take you
out there. You don't need to buy if you don't want to, but we think you will want to after
you see these fine lots and know about the easy terms you make your own termsyou
may have. Better not wait; the other fellow is getting busy and it's time you acted, before
all are sold. There are only twenty lots and two acre tracts left.
