The monthly meeting of the city
council was beld last night at which
time the usual amount of routine
business was transacted. The mat
ter of selling the water bonds was
taken up and 'the report of Mayor
Matlock, who went to Portland to
confer with Morris Bros., one of the
bidders, in regard to changing the
bid so that the city could accept It
without violating the provisions of
the charter, was heard. He stated
that the firm had agreed to at onee
write to Chicago to see if the bid
could be changed. In his report the

mayor .-stated ,that the Willamette
Valley Co. was ready to turn' over
1 10,000 and take the bonds as pay
