There Is now a practical certainty
that the Oregon prune crop will be
a short one, particularly as regards
Italian prunes. The frosts did the
work. Sometimes a shortage Is made
up by another state, hut not this
time. Reports from California lead
to the Inevitable conclusion that the
fSanta Clara valley will send out a
lighter prune yield than usual.
AUTOS USE ELEVENTH
STREET AS SPEEDWAY
During the last ten days, automo
biles, mostly out of town machines,
having been using Kast Kleventh
street as a speedway. In one or two
cases experienced drivers, who have
been riding stating that they were
going nearly forty miles an hour.
There Is a city ordinance limiting the
speed of autos to six miles an hour
on the 8t reels, but we venture the
assertion that there Is not a single
driver that observes It. While a six
mile limit Is too low, there should be
some restrictions placed on those who
are Inclined to go as fast as twenty
miles an hour and faster.
