The Bong recital given at Vlllard
hall on Thursday evening by the pu
pils of Mrs. Katherine Ward Pope,
under the auspices of the University
of Oregon School of Music, proved to
Eugene that we have some vocalists
of no mean ability. Villard hall was
filled with an extremely appreciative
audience, as was witnessed by the
beautiful flowers and the plaudits.
The accompaniment work of Miss Al
berta Campbell and the Instrumental
solo of Miss Jessie Fariss are deserv
ing of special mention, as is the
work of each of the vocalists. The
rich contralto voice of' Miss Louise
Yoran was heard to advantage In
threo numbers, but especially In her
second number, "Rose in the Bud."
Miss Llla I'rosser has a 'pure, sweet
soprano voice, and she uses it excel
lently. A new voice to a Eugene au
dience was that of Mr. Ralph Dodson,
but which we hope we shall hear
again. Mrs. Pope Is to be congratu
