GREAT LOCKOUT
OF WOUGMEN
!N ENGLAND
Glaso, May 2. Clyde shipbuild
ers todav 'locked out six thousand
woodworkers. This measure is the
outcome of a dispute between the
shipbuilding employers' federation
and the shipworkers of the northeast
coast, who struck rather than accept
a reduction of wages, and who have
not been able to pat the federation to
arbitrate their demands. Lockouts
have been decided upon by all ship
building yards of the United King
dom, and the workmen in other
branches will gradually be locked
out.
There seems to be a prospect of a
complete stoppage of the shipbuild
ing industry, a condition that will af
fect directly not less than 250,000
men.
