cerns a former Eugene girl:
Redding Cal., April 20. A loving
couple, yuung enough In appearance
to- bo school children, came all the
way from Ashland, Or., Friday night
to he married at Redding. They were
Charles McWIlllams, aged 21, and
Mjss Mabel P. Moody, aged 18, ac
cording to tho marriage license. They
were married Suturduy evening In
the Presbyterian inause by Hov.- O.
S. Mnson. The bride is a grand
daugiter of former tlocernor Moody,
of Oregon. The groom is a son of a
well-known real estate dealer of Ash-i
land. When they registered for sep-,
mate rooms nt the Hotel Lorenz they
unnounced that they were cousins.

neral of Allen Johnson, son of W
C. Johnson, a prominent business
man of this city, who was thrown
from the Portland-Cottage Grove lo
cal late Friday night and died two
hours afterward, was one of the larg
est ever held in this city. It Is esti
mated that 21)00 people were in at

The paving on West Eighth street
will Be completed tomorrow if the
weather is not too bad to stop the

The first carload of vitrified brick
to be used on the street car track for
the East Eleventh street pavement,
arrived from Portland this morning.

Surveyors today were busy making
levels for the filling In of the depot
grounds. The work 13 progressing
reasonably fast. The spur over which
the cars loaded with gravel and sand
are hauled has been extended to the
eastern end of the yards, to where
Andrews' lumber yards were former
ly located.
At the coming June election the
.people of several precincts will vote
on the matter of prohibiting the run
ning of stock at large in the respec
tive precincts. In order to bring this
matter before the people it is neces
sary to file a petition with the coun
ty clerk. So far Zumwalt and Wilr
lamette have acted upon the matter.
