According to the returns received
at The Guard office up to this after
noon, Louis E. Bean, Wlnsor W. Cal
kins and Allen 11. Eaton are the
nominees for representative on the
Keiiuhliran ticket. Drew Griffin is the
nominee for sheriff, E. U. Lee for
clerk, H. F. Keeney for assessor, Wal
ter H. Dlllnrd for school superinten
dent, Robert E. Eastland for county
treasurer, (J. K. Chrisman for county
Judge, C. M. Collier for surveyor.
Hugh M. Price Tor commissioner and
W. T. Gordon for coroner. Tho last
four candidates were without oppo

tho party. , '
Probably the closeHt fight was be
tween Allen H. Eaton and I. N. Ed
wards for representative. Last night
when the returns began to come In
they were about even for a long time,
hut finally Eaton began to forge
alieud, and tills afternoon he leads
I'Td wards by a good majority, with
twelve or thirteen smull precincts to
hear from yet.
After Edwards cornea A. C. Jen
nings, and C. J. Dodd received the
smallest vote.
For county clerk there waa no
doubt aa to the outcome from the
first, la nearly every precinct gave E.
U. Lee a majority over O. F. Calll
Bon. An occasional precinct, howev
er, gave Callison a majority, among
them being North Junction, Lee'e
home precinct, which, Mr. Lee says,
alwnya goea against him.
Drew Griffin Is easily In for sher
iff by Beveral hundred votes, al
though I. T. Nlcklln ran well In a
number of precincts and for a time at
the beginning of the count It looked
as If the vote would be much closer
Chan It la.
H. F. Keerey wins easily over D.
P. Burton, for nsaeaaor, and P. D.
Newell comes third.
Walter B. Dlllard, for school su
perintendent, won handily over H. 0
llaughman, his majority being well
up In the hundreds.
F. T. Plank la the nemlnee for con
stable for the Eugene district, win
ning over Geo. Fisher by over 100
votea. R. S. Bryaon la the nominee
for Justice of the peace, he being the
only candidate in the field.
Tho JeiiiocmtH.
The Democratic tlckot, aa nnmlnat
ed at tho polls, la aa follows:
For representatives Leon R. Ed
munson, Joseph D. Matlock and Al
len Eaton, the laat named being one
of the Republican nominees, the Dom
