and the pennants flying from the
light poles at regular Intervals. They
present a striking appearance and
give the city a holiday appearance.
This work Is undpr the direction or
the Commercial Club, and the flags
were purchased by the club.
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra
arrived from Portland on the after
noon train in their special cars. They
were accompanied by the soloists who
are to take part In the concerts to
night, tomorrow afternoon and to
morrow nigh!. The sale of seats for
the concert has been large and it Is
expected tbnl the great auditorium in
Villnrd Hall will be filled at each
performance. The chorus of ISO
voices, under the direction of Pro
fessor I.M. Glen, denn of music at
the University, promises to he the
best ever heard here. They have prac
ticed diligently for weeks and those
who have heard the rehearsals during
the past week say the chorus will ha
the best of its kind ever heard In
the state outside of Portland.
