The Oregon Irrigator, published al
Irrlgon, has the following cnustl'
comment on the movement on foot to
cripple the state university: "This
school is one of the foremost In the
West,' the most Important In Oregon,
and ha3 an enrollment of over font
hundred pup'ils, and the amount ap
propriated by the legislature wa
all too small. The bill was pasi.'tl
unanimously by the 30 members o!
the house and senate, and yet a few
busybodies have held the appropria
tion up for two years, at a cost tc
the state of probably ten or fifteen
thousand dollars. We do not be
lieve such a club should lie placed
in the hands of a few shysters."

that if he could only transfer his
candidacy to Lane county he would
be certain of a cinch on the nomina
