.and the means by winch n nope 10

call a national convention to nomin
ate candidates for the Presidency
and Vice-I'residency alter the Kepuu-
' lienn and Democratic nartl"s have

i The league advocates direct nom-
rinntlon to abolish clique-controlled
party convention rule. Ucssisni must
; be eliminated.. The league favors
the referendum, recall and govern
ment ownership of the telesranh,
the purchase and operation of which
it recommends as an Immediate
measure. Overcapitalization of cor
porations and dishonest hanks are
denounced as the source of panics. A
flexible currency, issued by the gov
ernment Is approved. The league In
dorses organizations among crafts
men and farmers that will tend to
bring about an equitable distribution
of wealth in better wages and prices.
Government protection of working
people, an eight-hour day and revis
ion of the tariff are advocated. Othor
recommendations are ship subsidy
and interstate control of commerce
and transportation, national Incor
poration laws, government savings
banks, inspection of railroads, an en
larged navy, reclamation of arid
lands and the deepening of water
ways. The league deprecates the cor
