ANNOUNCEMENT
Fulton lipiicws Klilit.
Washington, Feb. is. Senator!
Futcn today reported to the senate
from the judiciary committee a point
resolution directing the attorney gen
eral to profecute tile land' grant rail
roads In Oregon for not having com
plied with the terms of their grants
in disposing of the lands In their
grants in tracts of not more than 160
acres at not more than $2.50 per
acre. The resolutions drawn by the
department of justice to remove any
dnuhr as tn its ntithnrftv In nrnrppH
was" offered as p substitute for theM
one recently offered by Tillman. t j
The resolution was generally dis-j
cussed, the only objection bring flrged j
against it was that the attorney-gen-1
eral is now empowered by the law to
do all that the resolution seeks to
have done. Fulton stated that the
department was now ready to proceed
and merely wanted the authority of
congret-'s to remove any question of
the legality of the proceedings.
