A special meeting of the East Eu
gene Improvement Club was held last
night, at which time the mutter of lo
cating the proposed new public school
building on the district's lot In Fair
mount was taken up. At a previous
meeting of the c!uh a committee con
sisting of V. H. Dempster. M. Svnr-
verud and Kd Jndklns was appointed
to draft resolutions on this matter
ind the following was presented last
night and adopted by the club:

Club:
"We. your committee, would re
spectfully report as follows: Since
public expression h:is been given In
the press of the city to the effect
that the school board must erect a
new school building this year and
since It was stated in t lie same item
that the board probably would not
think it best to erect the building in
East Eugene on the lot owned by the
district, therefore we would urge the
appointment of a committee of three
persons who shall collectively call
upon the members of the school board
and ascertain Itheir views on-this im
portant matter and carefully and ex
actly report their sentiments to this
club." I
The committee as recommended In
the resolutions was appointed and
consists of the following:- J. O. Bris
tol, T. H. Garrett end M. Rvarverutl.
A Thousand Trees Ordered.
The matter of selecting the kinds
of trees for the various streets in
Fairmount was taken np, the decision
being as follows: On Columbia ave
nue, linden trees; on Moss avenue
and Orchard avenue, horse chestnut;
on Villard avenue and Fairmonnt
boulevard, maple trees, and on Wal
nut avenue, walnut trees. An order
for 1000 trees was placed with the
Oregon Nursery Company at Salem,
and they will arrive within a few
days. The work of setting them out
will begin Immediately upon their arrival.
GLORIOUS MEETING
AT CHRISTIAN CHURCH
As was previously predicted, last
night brought to a tremendous' audi
ence one of tile greatest sermons ever
delivered in Eugene. Such was its
history and such is Its record. Dr.
.Martin preached the old yet ever new
gospel with thrilling power. The
message of life from its perennial
fount found its way into mellow
hearts. The rich storehouse of God's
word was opened and the sight was
heaven to see.
"The Second Coming of Christ and
the End of the World" will most cer
tainly occur. Shall we be with the
five foolish virgins, or with the five
who were wise?
Five persons last evening made wis
dom's choice nnd went forward at the
gospel invitation. The grand total
thus far is about 125.
