Harry N. Pratt, charged with em
bezzlement from the tllendalo State
Hank, of whliih he was formerly
cashier, waived preliminary examina
tion when arraigned before Justice
Long Friday afternoon and was
hound over to the circuit court for
trial. He was admitted to ball In the

In the evening he departed for bis re
turn to (ilendale in company with A.
L. Shlpman, superintendent of the
Victory mine, near that place, with
whom ho has been staying for the
past ten days and who raine with
him to Itoseburg after his arrest.
Pratt has retained the local law firm
nf Cardwell & Watson to defend
him.
The arrest of Pratt was made upon
a warrant Bworn out by E. K. Iled
fleld, a stockholder and director of
tho Glendale hank. It was occa
sioned by the discovery of a short
age of 13570 In tho accounts of the
bank, which have Just been experted
by an accountant secured from Port
