LADD CONSIDERS
TERMS ARE DRASTIC

of the Title Dank deposits will not
be reached before tomorrow after
noon, says tho Oregoninn.
Mr. l.add has aske:l for time in
which to consider the demands cf
two parties, the American Surety
Company and a committee of depos
itors.
The surety company demands his
assumption of i:s obligation to pay
the state $295.11 1 0.tiS, on or before!
December 31, 11)09, at. 5 per cent interest,-
that being the balance for
which the company admitted liabil

within reasonable time of $100,000,
which the company has paid the
Btat".
The committee of depositors de
mands payment of all deposits of
$100 or less within (10 days; depos
its between $100 nnd $500, in two
annual Installments, and deposits in
excess of $500 In three annual In

These demands are regarded by
Mr. Ladd as rather drastic, and some
of his advisers urge him to' resist
them. He conferred yesterday with
W. C. llrlstol, attorney for the sure
ty company, without reaching an
agreement. In tho conference with
the depositors' committee he was
represented by W. B. Ayer, who also
reached no settlement.
