NINE EGGS
'Shell" Coffman seems to have
more than his share of trouble In the
courts. His latest appearance was
this forenoon, when he was taken be
fore Judge Bryson, cf the justice
court, on the charge of larceny, he
having stolen nine eggs from the Vin
cent restaurant the other night, when
he and Bill Prltchctt were arrested
for being drunk and disorderly. He
pleaded guilty and was fined $30,
which he paid.
Coffman started to work on the
streets this afternoon with the ball
and chain fastened to one of his legs,
in pursuance to the order of Police
Judge Dorrls the other day. This is
an old sentence of twenty days, and
when it is completed he will probably
be given twenty days more for the
escapade with Pritchett the other
night.

truly thankful.
That these dances have been poorly
attended the orchestra is fully aware.
And why this poor attendance?
Is It because of so many of their
friends being unintentionally over
looked in not getting an invitation
to their first dance? If this be true
they are truly sorry and their hats
are off to any and all of their frlend3
who were thus overlooked.
As a dance orchestra this organ
ization has few, if any, equals in the
state, and it is with regret to say that
they are about to step down and out
and bow low to the "whiz" of skates
and the "smack" of basketball. But
In the face of all counter attractions
they have been Induced to remain In
tact long enough to give a good old
time poverty sVall, to take place intfhe
near future. And it Is to be hoped
that all of Eugene will take advan
tage of this opportunity, as they In
tend to make it the most enjoyablc
dance of the season. Watch for the
date. f22
